Finished Yard Art Mural
March 18, 2021
You may recall that at the beginning of the month, I shared my Yard Art mural in progress. I thought you might like to see the finished version:
I wasn't kidding when I said the tree was BIG. This mural is a little more than 18-feet long and it doesn't look big at all on the tree. In fact, it looks tiny!
To answer the most frequently asked questions:
- The substrate is tar paper, also called roofing felt.
- I used clear spray paint to seal the mural.
- I used glue to close the seam and the mural stays on the tree because it can't slip down -- like a bracelet on your wrist. Note the packaging that says "water & weather proof."
- I will cut it down off the tree when the month is over. I haven't decided what to do with it, though.... Anyone want to buy a mural?!
If you want to know more: Maker Members & Super Learner Members have access to this month's Studio Vlog, which is all about the making of this mural.
Thus far this month, we've had rain and snow and wind and the mural is still standing -- no rips, no damage! There is some tree sap dripping down across it in one area...
...but I think it will wipe clean if I give it a try. The surface of the mural is pretty slick thanks to the clear spray paint.
I haven't yet made it around town to check out all of the other art, but you can see lots of it on the official Yard Art instagram account HERE.
If you'd like, you can purchase a set of 4 postcards of images from this mural for $10.
They're blank on the back -- so you can mail them to a friend or simply frame them! Grab your set HERE.
Thanks for stopping by!
