#CarveDecember 2021 Begins Today!

Around Here: November 2021

Hello, friends! Here is a little bit about life around here right now:

What are you working on?

I've been experimenting with collograph.

I don't have the right supplies, so I've run into a little bit of trouble, but I'm enjoying myself.  I'll share more about it soon!

What are you loving?

Christmas lights!

It's dark by 4:30pm around here and I have to say that the Christmas lights make it a lot less depressing.  Plus my little guy says, "Oooo, light," every single time we pass a house with Christmas lights.  It's really sweet.

How is the little guy?

He's two!!!

It's honestly shocking.  The last two years seem to have disappeared so quickly and yet I also feel like the fog is just starting to lift and I'm beginning to get back to being myself a little bit.  I don't know how people with lots of little kids do it.

Current art crush?

The quilted wall hangings and bags of Emily Van Hoff have me googling how to create shaped bindings on a quilt.  I mean, how cool are these pieces?!

One of the interesting things about her instagram feed is how quickly her work has evolved.  She started with lettering, and then moved into embroidery.  Then the quilted bags and lately the quilted wall hangings (which is when I found her).  If ever there were evidence of why you should follow your interests and not worry about niche-ing down, I think Emily is a perfect example. She just keeps getting better with each change of focus.

So, there you have it!  That's the scoop on life around here at the moment.  If you're a Monthly Member, November's personal vlog and studio vlog are both in online classroom.

What's the difference between a personal vlog and a studio vlog?

  • Personal vlogs have a lot of daily life stuff (lots of baby) and a bit of random art content.  They're pretty much like the old weekly vlogs you can still see on my YouTube channel. All Members have access to personal vlogs.
  • Studio vlogs are art focused on a single art project or art-related topic.  Past studio vlogs include: behind-the-scenes of putting together an online class, a studio tour, a peek into my sketchbook, etc.  Maker Members & Super Learner Members have access to the studio vlogs.

Thanks for stopping by!
