Adventures in Arting Podcast: Episode 129 "Julie Loves Mash-Ups"
The Artful Holiday Class: Week Four

An April Afternoon at the MFA - Part 3

As I mentioned in my previous posts (part one and part two), back in April, I spent an afternoon at the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) here in Boston.  We saw 3 notable things:

  1. The Turner Exhibit
  2. Art in Bloom
  3. The Philip Guston Exhibit

My first post covered my experience of the Turner Exhibit.  My second post took a look at Art in Bloom 2022.  And now, we finally get to my surprise favorite: Philip Guston.  I had seen Philip Guston's later work in many museums over the years.  So I was familiar with him. But this exhibit took a look at his artwork through time and it was mind-blowing.  I loved seeing his journey.  I loved seeing how one idea evolved into another idea.  I loved learning more about his life and his influences.  I loved it so much that I bought the exhibit catalogue (and for a lot more than they're charging on Amazon, btw).

I had plans to go back and see the exhibit a few more times -- something I would have done in the before-baby-times -- but alas, it did not happen.  Visiting this exhibit was a deeply inspiring experience for me.  I hope you found some inspiration too.

Thanks for stopping by!
