Hey friends! Here's the round-up for November 2022:
What's happening at home?
Also, I put together a super cute Christmas countdown calendar for him and hung it over the fireplace:
Pro parenting tip: I put one piece of candy from his Halloween stash in each bag! ScanNCut Club members can watch the tutorial video for this project HERE.
What's on your desk right now?
- Leafy Collage stencil
- Gelatin Printed rice paper
- Sketchbook
- Very dirty and stinky paint water
- Matte Gel Medium (I've been using buckets and buckets of it lately)

This fabric collage by John Udvardy:
At the moment, I'm very interested in things that are realistic and yet abstract at the same time.
A recommendation?
Rice paper. I've been doing a lot of gelatin printing on rice paper and then collaging it, as you can see in this art journal spread:
Rice paper is not as strong as deli paper, but it has the same beautiful way of melting into the substrate when you collage it. It's more matte and less waxy than deli paper. Also, I've had issues with paint coming off of deli paper (in some very specific situations) and that doesn't happen with rice paper since the paint sinks into the paper rather than sitting on top. The paper pack pre-orders I'm sending out this week have a lot of this gelatin printed rice paper in them!
So, that's the scoop on life around here at the moment. If you're a Monthly Member, the November personal vlog is up in the classroom and the studio vlog will be up by the end of the month. The Member Livestream has been moved to Wednesday at 7:30pm EST because I have laryngitis. (On a side note, trying to take care of a toddler when you can't speak is an interesting adventure.)
Thanks for stopping by!
