2023 Art Classes for You

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Today I wanted to share the major classes I'll be offering in 2023.  I hope to see you in one or many of them!

Design Boot Camp: February 7 - March 7, 2023
Conducted over Zoom on Tuesdays and Fridays

I am offering two sections of the class: an afternoon (12-2pm EST) and an evening version (7-9pm EST).  With time differences, the afternoon version often works for those in Europe and the evening version for those in Australia.  You can check the world clock to see what might work for you.

Design Boot Camp is a five-week-long art workshop that will challenge, inspire, encourage, and educate you! I will teach you about each of the Elements & Principles of Design. Through a series of art exercises, we will explore each element and principle and then learn how to combine them together to create compositions that sing. You will learn a lot about yourself over the five-weeks. But you have to put in the work to get the results.  This course is intended for those who are serious about their art and looking for the tools to push their work to the next level.  You can learn more and sign up HERE.

Color Camp: March 10-12, 2023
In-Person at my Home Studio in Watertown, MA

Come to class to learn the magic language of color. Go home with new knowledge, new skills, and tangible tools to use in your art practice. Each day's lesson contains color exercises meant to warm up your creative muscles and teach you new skills. Through the day we move through both practical applications and creating tools to assist you in your art practice. Some of the topics we will cover in this class include: choosing colors, color mixing, working with a limited palette, color harmonies, developing a personal color palette, the mother color, and color relativity, as well as color basics like hue, value, and saturation.

Printmakers Party: June 23-25, 2023
In-Person at my Home Studio in Watertown, MA

It's an arty party!! This three-day class is packed with printmaking fun. We will be making our own stamps, stencils, and silkscreens. We will also be using the gelatin plate to make both collage papers and finished artwork.

You will go home with stamps, stencils, and silkscreens you've made, which can be reused in your future artwork. You will also go home with a stash of collage papers and several finished prints ready to frame. And, of course, you will also go home with tons and tons of new ideas and techniques!

Mixed Media Collage Intensive: September 11-15, 2023
In-Person at my Home Studio in Watertown, MA

This intensive workshop is intended for intermediate to advanced students. Some of the topics we will cover are: personal voice, when to know if it's done, working in a series, value, contrast, composition, focal point, and how to use a sketchbook for a mixed media collage practice.

Each day of the workshop will begin with exercises intended to educate and excite you. Through the week, I will help you to hone your foundational skills in order to create better artwork. Each student will receive personal attention and instruction throughout class.

The goal for this workshop is for you to create a body of work -- a series of 6-10 pieces that you’re proud of. Here is a loose syllabus:

• Monday – intentions/goals, sketches, papers
• Tuesday – more sketches, papers, first piece, and art parts
• Wednesday – artwork and first feedback
• Thursday – artwork
• Friday – presentations and critique
