Hey friends! Here's the round-up for December 2022:
What's happening at home?
After three months of being sick (flu, sinus infection, laryngitis, another sinus infection, strep throat), I finally was healthy for almost the entirety of December!! Hooray! Also, my little guy got a haircut and now he looks like a big kid to me!
It really is true: The days are long, but the years are short!
What's on your desk right now?
Here's the quick breakdown:
- My color rolodex. I use it all the time. It's full of color swatches, color mixing formulas, and color schemes. Come to Color Camp if you want to learn more!
- Acrylic paint. I use three main brands: Golden, Blick, and Liquitex. No matter how often I clean up, there always seem to be paint containers on my desk!
- Some play in my art journal along with the inspiration for that play. (As a side note, how I use my art journal has really changed over the last year.)
- Deli paper. I use a lot of different papers, but I will never give up deli paper.

At the moment, I'm very interested in adding applique to existing clothing. I've done a bit of it before, but it always looks like I added applique to clothing. So I'm trying to think about how to approach it differently for a more refined look.
A recommendation?
If you are buying toys for children, or are a teacher of children, I highly recommended Lakeshore Learning. I accidentally stumbled into the store this summer and returned this fall to buy most of my son's holiday gifts, like these alphabet letters that transform into robots. He looooooves them.
All of the toys are high quality and focused on open-ended play. They also have tons of classroom supplies and offer a teacher discount. This is not an ad. I am simply a happy customer.
