Art Journal Every Day: Take a Peek into My 2022 Art Journal (part 2)
February 13, 2023
If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, the concept is simple: It's a commitment to take ten minutes each day to do something in your art journal. No need to finish anything or even like it. It's about making the time to nourish your creativity every day! If you have the time to flip through your phone, you have the time to Art Journal Every Day. If you'd like to share what you make, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. You can find new Art Journal Every Day posts here on the blog most Fridays. The archives go back to the first Art Journal Every Day post in 2010.
I'm back with some more pages from my 2022 art journal. In many ways this journal represents a radical change in how I use my art journal. There's basically no journaling in it. But then again, in many ways it's all the stuff that I've been doing for years! Take a peek:
This face was done with my beloved Permapaque Markers. No shaking, no smell, and lots of great colors.
This page was actually my first test print with the "Leafy Fans" stencil I designed for The Crafter's Workshop.
I used a thin layer of molding paste and it's really striking in person.
I prototype all of my stencils out of paper. This is the prototype for my "Leafy Collage" stencil.
The left side of the page is an old old old gelatin print from when I first began gelatin printing. One of the things I love about working in a junque journal is having the old artwork in the book, next to the new.
So, I don't work in my junque journals in the order that I made them. This is an older journal and I was a more novice book binder at that time. You can see that I bound in the artwork on the right upside down. I used to do that quite a bit!
And here's some more lacy loveliness:
I love the lettering on this spread. And the stars are leftovers from some teacher gifts I made for my son's preschool teachers, featuring his artwork. It looks right at home here in my art journal!
My art journal has always been a place to stash forgotten art projects, pretty scraps that I can't bear to part with, and other things that just seem to clog up my art studio. This way it all gets used and seen and has a forever home.
I hope you're enjoying this peek into my art journal. I'll have more pages to share next week!
Thanks for stopping by!
