Sketchbook Revival: Check Out My FREE Collage Class!

In my class "Custom Color Collage Grid," I'm demonstrating some simple gelatin printing and then showing you how to use a grid design to create a gorgeous monochromatic collage in your sketchbook, like these ones:

In case you don't know, gelatin printing is a form of relief printing that I am obsessed with! You use a gelatin plate to transfer layers of paint onto paper or fabric and create a monotype. Using this method, it’s easy to layer multiple colors on one print, if you wish.  We will be sticking with a monochromatic palette, exploring tints, tones, and shades of our chosen hue.

After making our papers, I show students how to use the gelatin prints to create a beautiful grid collage. A grid collage is simply a collage that is arranged on a grid in a sketchbook. I walk students through the steps of laying out the grid and then arranging prints of various sizes and values in a way that speaks to them.
